Walls
Singer laments the death of their lover in the home they built together that has become an oppressive reminder of everything they've lost. The singer resigns themself to becoming a ghost, haunting the rotting body of a dead love, etching the memories of the one they lost into the wood and stones for all time.

I shall lament all I've got left
to the cadence of your last breath
I'll sign my name in what remains
the world you leave
where I'll be staying
The place we made for you and I
Is where I'll linger
as the world flies by
These walls of ours
these walls so tall
they wear the hours
but still won't fall.
We built them strong
to live and to last
and now they're alone
in the aftermath.
We made this prison
out of promise and hope
we never thought for a second
it'd end with a rope!
I will remember everything I've lost
As I linger here where time forgot
I'll leave my woe in the worn edges
the creaking wood
and the growing hedges
The place we made for you and I
is where I'll linger
for the rest of time
These walls of ours
these walls so tall
they wear the hours
but still won't fall.
We built them strong
to live and to last
and now they're alone
in the aftermath.
We made this prison
out of promise and hope
we never thought for a second
it'd end with a rope!
I never meant to hurt you!
I never meant to make you feel alone!
If my devotion disturbs you
then I will linger on my own.
The dust is calling
and I've no more left to resist for.
The hours keep falling
and I've little else to wish for.
We may pass from this place
but the walls will remember.
So, see me here, in this aging room.
Don't pity me my tears
because I'll be seeing you soon.
